The Mastic Asphalt Council (MAC) has announced the appointment of Malcolm Grinstead as company.
With a career in the construction industry that spans more than 45 years, including 25 years covering all aspects of contracting with Briggs Amasco and 20 years at Permanite Asphalt / IKO as both a technical advisor and a mastic asphalt product manager, Malcolm brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the organisation.
Malcolm replaces the council’s long-serving and well-respected director and secretary John Blowers, whom was the backbone and guiding light of the Mastic Asphalt Council for more than two decades before he passed away last April.
Commenting on his appointment, Malcolm said, “I’m tremendously pleased to have been offered the role as company director at MAC. John was a driving force and a pioneer in the industry and it’s an honour to be taking over from him.
“I look forward to continuing his great work for the industry. Mastic asphalt is a material which is second to none – tough, durable, cost-effective and it’s a carbon neutral product. Our aim is to bring this fantastic product back to the fore, especially with young designers and architects, and show them this is a versatile material that will last and perform to the high levels they require.”
The Mastic Asphalt Council (MAC) is the trade association for the UK mastic asphalt industry. A non-profit making independent body, MAC represents more than 90 firms — including mastic asphalt manufacturers, the contractors responsible for its installation, and associated suppliers of equipment and services. Its strict membership requirements promote the use of mastic asphalt to the highest degree.
