Bilco has added to its product portfolio with the launch of the Step Over Stair range, a new rooftop system intended to improve safety.
The new Step Over Stair provides a safe means of passage in the form of a short stairway over rooftop obstacles such as air conditioning or ventilation ductwork. It is available in either mill-finished aluminium or galvanised steel and is designed to precise specifications, according to each site’s requirements.
The Stair is available in both fixed (with penetrative fixing) and free-standing options. The fixed stair is bolted to the roof to provide a permanent safe route over long-term hazards in frequently accessed areas, while the free-standing stair has adjustable legs to negotiate height variations and does not penetrate the roof.
James Fisher, managing director of Bilco, said: “Flat roofs are often home to potential trip hazards such as ducting and plant equipment, which can prevent safe, easy access to specific areas of the roof space. With more essential building services plant and telecoms equipment being situated on rooftops, our new Step Over Stair will be an additional safety precaution for service personnel who provide ongoing maintenance.”
The Bilco Step Over Stair can be used in conjunction with the new Bilco Roof Mounted Walkway, which is designed and manufactured in accordance with the recommendations of BS 5395: Part 3. Available with a variety of fixing options, including pedestal fixing, penetrative fixing, raised seam, or free standing, the Walkway is also designed to individual customers’ specifications and can be supplied with handrails and kick boards if required. The Walkway is manufactured from mill-finished aluminium with non-slip GRP panels.
