Baumit has opened a training academy which will host a series of installer courses at its UK headquarters in Aylesford, Kent. From March, the purpose-built facility will be open to those within the construction industry to gain vital theoretical and practical experience in a range of External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems and practices.
Three course levels are available and will offer the following:
Bronze: Ideal for those who are familiar with interior plastering and are looking to expand their knowledge of rendering externally. It is ideal for those working within the plastering and rendering industry. You don’t need to have extensive knowledge of plastering to attend this course, but some experience is required. It is also good for site managers, site supervisors and contract managers to give an insight to Baumit EWI systems.
Silver: This course caters for installers and applicators who want to become Baumit-approved. Practical sessions include fixing base profiles, boarding and beading, and course-completion results in Baumit on-site support, reports for clients and a Baumit-approved installer card.
Gold: For those experienced in EWI systems and competent in rendering, trainees who complete this course will become a Baumit-approved partner. A host of additional benefits include access to Baumit product marketing materials, and OSCAR onsite overview and approval. Bespoke training is also available to gold course candidates looking to custom-fit their experience and optimise their learning opportunity.
Practical training in EWI wall application, including detailing around corners and gas meters, is an option for gold and silver candidates. These site-based scenarios are said to provide hands-on, ‘real-life experience’ in dealing with regular challenges faced by installers.
Chris Kendall, field engineer at Baumit, said: “Our installer courses provide a perfect opportunity for installers of all abilities and members of the construction industry to gain a valuable working knowledge of EWI. The experts at our training academy are fully-equipped to offer a wide-range of theoretical and practical advice to ensure clients come away better-informed of the processes and systems involved in all things EWI.”
Baumit has a wide selection of available training dates for 2018 designed specifically to cover theoretical and practical elements of EWI. Specialist courses can also be carried out by appointment.
