A Bristol builders’ merchant has brought a £3,000 boost to the local community after moving to an enhanced new location in the city.

Selco Builders Warehouse has opened its 140,000 sq ft site on Cater Road in Bishopsworth, ending a 25-year stay at its branch in Bedminster.

The move to Bishopsworth has seen Selco create 10 new jobs, as well as transferring all 30 existing colleagues from the old branch, while the company’s other Bristol branch, based off Gipsy Patch Lane in Filton, will remain in operation.

To mark the opening, the builders’ merchant made a £1,000 donation to Young Bristol, as well as pledging a further £2,000 to its nominated charity Global’s Make Some Noise to support small charities it works with in Bristol.

Mark Jones, Selco Bishopsworth branch manager, said: “Supporting charities and community groups in the local areas in which we operate is an integral part of the Selco ethos, and never more so this year with the coronavirus crisis, so we are delighted to mark the opening of our new branch with a £3,000 donation.

“Young Bristol is responsible for carrying out invaluable work amongst the next generation across the city while Global’s Make Some Noise is our nominated charity and one that is close to the hearts of all Selco colleagues.”
