Building materials distributor Encon Group has achieved ISO 19443 certification, demonstrating compliance with a quality management system standard for organisations operating in the nuclear industry supply chain.
Encon’s success reflects a highly detailed, multi-day audit that ensures products earmarked for the nuclear industry follow a defined and traceable route from the manufacturer through to delivery. This includes maintaining suitable storage environments and checking employee competence.
The accreditation covers the breadth of Encon’s specialist range, from construction products, roofing and external façade materials, through to thermal and technical insulation, passive fire protection and interior systems.
The Standard was awarded by LRQA, authorised by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to provide an independent assessment of organisations working towards this certification.
Will Barker, head of HSEQ compliance at the Encon Group, commented: “The safety of our customers, employees and suppliers is always a top priority for our business, and the successful ISO 19443 audit demonstrates our commitment to applying and continuously improving best practices and maintain the highest safety standards.
“We are proud of the hard work of our HSEQ and business teams, which led to the achievement of this coveted standard. It represents a significant milestone for our business and underpins our commitment to excellence in the nuclear industry supply chain, ensuring we continue with our high levels of safety, reliability and quality in the delivery of products and in providing exceptional value to our customers.”
Mark Nicholls, head of infrastructure, added: “Our successful audit demonstrates Encon’s commitment to safety, compliance, risk management and endorsing continuous improvement.”
