CIGA has hired three new independent non-executive directors to join its board.
The Association says that, following a competitive hiring process – with more than 70 candidates – Peter Baynham, Brian Yates and Michael Kaltz have joined the board and will regularly attend board meetings and contribute to ensuring that CIGA operates to the highest standards
The appointments are designed to expand the diversity of the governance team and increase the board’s experience and independence.
Increasing the diversity of the board was central to CIGA’s plan to increase independence and transparency, and was also a recommendation by CIGA’s consumer champion, Teresa Perchard, in her review into their customer services.
Gerry Miller, chief executive of CIGA, said: “This appointment of three new non-executive directors not only improves CIGA’s transparency but provides the CIGA board with a wide breadth of expertise and knowledge.
“The experience in finance, consumer protection, dispute resolution and housing, will help CIGA to improve the experience of its customers and ensure delivery of the remainder of our Change Programme.
“It is important that customers have confidence in CIGA and that we are able to hold industry to account. The appointment of Peter, Brian and Michael should leave the public in no doubt that when it comes to board level decisions, their voices will be heard.”
